UFC star Jon Jones arrested AGAIN for drink driving and firing weapon

UFC superstar Jon Jones has been arrested for drink driving and firing a weapon, having been found by police with ‘a half-empty bottle of tequila and handgun’ in his car. 

At 1:00am on Thursday morning the authorities arrived at the scene in New Mexico having responded to reports of gunfire. 

According to TMZ, Jones was arrested for DUI and firing the weapon, with the light-heavyweight champion ‘reeking of booze’.

The police found Jones in a Jeep with the engine running. He denied firing the weapon but allegedly failed a breathalyser test twice. 

It is also understood that he was charged for ‘aggravated driving while intoxicated, negligent use of a deadly weapon and possession of an open container’.

Police found a half-empty bottle of tequila behind the passenger’s seat along with the black handgun when they searched the vehicle.

Jones is seen by many as the greatest MMA fighter ever but has demons away from the cage

The UFC light-heavyweight champion was later released and is to appear in court on April 9. 

Jones, 32, is regarded by many as the greatest mixed martial artist of all time but his life outside of the cage has been littered with indiscretions. 

He was also arrested for drink driving in 2010, pleading guilty after slamming his Bentley into a pole in New York.    

The American was also found guilty of a hit-and-run in 2015. According to an Albuquerque Police Department arrest warrant, Jones went through a red light and crashed into another vehicle driven by a pregnant woman, who broke her arm.

He fled the scene and was given 18 months probation. 

Only last year, Jones was charged with misdemeanor battery in a strip club after allegedly lifting a woman off the ground in a choke-hold before slapping her in the genitals. 

He denied the allegations at the time and later pled no contest to disorderly conduct.
