Ricky Gervais shares super cheeky childhood throwback as he poses with monkeys

Legendary Ricky Gervais shared a cute throwback snap as a boy while posing with two monkeys.

The comedian, 58, took to Twitter on Thursday to post the light-hearted snap with his followers.

He posted the heartwarming snap along with many other famous comics following the Twitter trend "#comedians_as_kids".

In the sepia snap, Ricky flashed a cheesy grin at the camera and cuddled two of the furry mammals.

An extremely happy young Ricky donned a smart tie, shirt and jumper combo when he got his photo taken.

Even the monkeys wore clothes as they both dressed in fluffy outfits.

Ricky penned: "I'm the one in the middle."

The comedian shared the photo in response to fellow comic Kate Robbins who had also shared a hilarious photo of her younger self aged five.

She replied: "Aw! Sooo sweet. The clothes on the monkeys [laughing emoji]".

Sarah Millican, Andrew Maxwell and Russell Howard were among the celebrities who joined in with the trending hashtag.

Russell, 40, posted an old school photo.

He could be seen wearing Harry Potter style glasses and a short blonde haircut.

Sarah made a funny reference to her outfit and joked she had suffered a "wardrobe malfunction" as she was dressed in a green number.

After Life is set to make a return for series two next month

Elsewhere, before coronavirus, Ricky had been busy filming his second series of Netflix hit After Life, which will be released next month.

He retweeted a preview clip of series two, which was captioned: "After Life Series 2, coming to Netflix Friday 24th April."

Fans were overjoyed with the first series which made it a fairly easy decision for Ricky to bring out another.

After Life viewers commented they "can't wait" to see the next series when it appears on their TV screens in April.
