Law And Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay is mourning the loss of a beloved crewmember who has died from coronavirus.

The actress/producer/director said she and the rest of the SVU family were ‘heartbroken’ of the news costumer Josh Wallwork had passed away from COVID-19 complications at just 45-years-old.

Reposting an announcement from SVU showrunner Warren Leight, Mariska wrote: ‘Heartbroken we are. I don’t think I ever saw him without a smile on his face.

‘He brought love and kindness everywhere he went. Always ready with the joke. The SVU Corredor will never be the same. We will miss you Josh. #ForeverInOurHearts’

In addition to his work on SVU, Wallwork had worked on Madam Secretary, The Get Down and Bull.

Earlier this month NBCUniversal halted production on Law And Order: SVU, along with all of creator Dick Wolf’s Chicago procedurals.

‘The safety and health of our cast, crew and employees is our top priority,’ NBCUniversal said in a statement on March 12.

‘Where possible, we are pausing production for two weeks as a precautionary measure, following which we will reassess and determine an appropriate start date,’ the statement continued.

‘In some cases, we are accelerating plans to wrap up physical production,’ the statement concluded.

Law And Order: SVU was in the middle of shooting their 21st season on location in NYC, a city which has become a hotspot for the nation’s COVID-19 cases.

After production was postponed showrunner Warren Leight revealed how the season was originally planned as a 24 episode season but will likely end at the 20th episode, which will likely air in April.

Talking to a fan of Twitter, Leight said: ‘SVU had planned to produce 24 episodes this season. Episode 20, written by @JulieMartinSVU and me, directed by @juancampanella may end up being our finale. 

‘If it is, it will be oddly fine in that slot – with return performances from many perps and vics we’ve met this season.’

The remaining season 21 episodes of Law And Order: SVU will air Thursdays on NBC.
